The new dryer

The new Hoover HLE H9A2TCE-80 heat pump dryer 

Well it was an early start this morning as I received a text saying the new dryer will arrive between 745 and 1145am. 

As requested, I was asked to remove the old dryer and make it easily collectable for the free collection they provided for me, so I took it out of its little space it was in and put it into the back garden for the delivery team to collect.

At 10:45 it arrived, they dropped the new dryer into the conservatory ready for me to fit, they were very polite and helpful and promptly removed the old dryer as they offered over the phone.

Within 20 minutes I had it unpacked, I am installing to collect the water in its internal moisture collector tank, you can set it up so the moisture collected go straight into the waste pipe if you have one close by, all that had to be done was to remove the two blocks in the top of the drum for to protect it in transport, and it is ready to use.

The manual recommends you download the App on your phone, the one you need to download is hOn

The app will guide you through the setup of the Wi-Fi to the dryer, I tried 4 times to connect the new machine as recommended, it kept failing! On further reading upon this app I found it needed to be the low 2.4ghz bandwidth to run it, so ill need to look into setting this up on my router.to see if I can set this up.

1st impressions: 

• compared to my old dryer it the opening is much bigger so makes loading and unloading much easier
• the door only opens to the left, it can't be changed like some, so this causes some loading issues
• the twin filters seem to collect the lint quite well
• lots of options to get to understand 
• the water tank is very easy to use 

New Doors and windows

 

Today the company came and installed the new door and windows in the front of the house, the door frame was very insecure, and I was worried the bricks would fall out and injure someone let alone the frame not being very secure, the bay windows let more cold air in round the frames even though I tried to re-seal, but it wasn't much better.

When the old dark wood effect doors and frames were fitted it looked dark in the hall, with the white frames it makes the hallway feel a lot brighter than it was and much nicer.

More damp proofing

 While we were waiting for the return of the company to return and carry out the last stage of the installation, I decided to carry out some damp proofing of the chimney area as the walls either side suffered with damp I felt it a good idea to seal it while there was time.

With all the damp injection cream in it needed time to absorb into the cement before the fire place install in a week 

Out with the old

 When we purchased the house the old gas fire was unsafe to use and was condemned by the plumber and removed for us, we took our time to decide on what to fill the hole with as it was still an open chimney letting cold in through it.

The wife and I wanted a fire, in the hole but one that is as safe as possible withg children in the house, there are many designs out there, we were unsure what to have, so we had people out to quote, and we decided to go look at a showroom to see what some of these fires look like and the costs involved.

In the end we chose a log burner as wood is a renewable source and log burners are more efficient and economical than a gas fire as well as the chimney being sealed up when not in use, the team from corby fire designs start on Monday with a two-week gap between to allow the work to dry out a bit before the installation of the hearth and log burner.

Well I found out that a man tool will be a valuable thing here to remove the plaster and stuff from the walls and drill the holes.

A new beginning for me and my family

Ok in September this year we sold our shared ownership house because it was too small for our family.

In the time it was up for sale we looked for another house and found a lot of houses we liked an put in many offers and all got refused.

On the moveing out day we found a house in the next village on that had just been put on the market and ticked all the boxes, off we went to view it the wife loved it.

Off road parking for two cars, three good sized bedrooms, a nice size kitchen, a big back garden, on a peaceful street, very close to a small park, it needs some work as it was owned by an old person that passed away.

We put an offer in below price hopeing they might drop the price and it was refused as it had only just gone on the market so we offered full asking price.

We waited 10weeks for the probate to clear and we now have our new home where my part time job was to begin!
